Automated Demand Response for Southern California Edison Customers

How will my business or organization benefit from Automated Demand Response (Auto-DR)?

  • Reduced electricity bills
  • Improved labor productivity
  • Installed and programmed energy management hardware at low or no cost
  • Avoided potential brownouts and blackouts

SCE and its implementer, Global Energy Partners, bring you the 2008 Auto-DR program. Successfully demonstrated at over 80 sites, Auto-DR will deliver savings and productivity results this year and into the future.

Eligibility

The Auto-DR program is open to SCE customers with demands 200 kW or greater, a communicating interval meter, Internet access, and participation in either one or both of these demand response programs:

  • SCE Critical Peak Pricing Program (CPP) – this rate option is for SCE customers with demands 200 kW or greater who can reduce their power usage during the summer season peak demand hours – noon to 6 p.m. – during a maximum of 12 CPP events.
  • SCE Demand Bidding Program (DBP) – a flexible Internet-based bidding program that offers qualified customers the opportunity to receive bill credits for voluntarily reducing power when a DBP event is called any time during the year. A DBP customer with multiple accounts may participate in Auto-DR if at least one of those accounts has a demand of 200 kW or greater.

The SCE 2008 summer season runs from June 1, 2008 to October 1, 2008.

Steps for Participation

Contact your SCE account representative to set up a preliminary assessment of your site and explore potential load reduction strategies.

Based on the preliminary assessment, specific load reduction strategies will be identified. This will be followed by an in-depth technical audit performed by an SCE-contracted engineer.

Load reduction strategies will be installed, tested and verified. Your site will then be enabled to participate in Auto-DR events.

SCE Incentives

Through the Technical Assistance and Technology Incentives (TA&TI) program, Auto-DR offers incentives for installed and verified equipment up to $300 per kW shed.
